Kids Say the Darndest Things!

Life with a 3 year old is never dull! I just had to share something cute that made me laugh this morning. I was singing the song, "Hosanna" by Starfield this morning while I was making Jake and Benjamin's breakfast in the kitchen. I know the Lord did not bless me with the greatest voice, but I never thought it was that bad:) Anyways, Jake was sitting at the kitchen table waiting for his breakfast and says, "Mama, stop singing!" I said, "Jake, that is not very nice." So thinking he was now going to be nice, Jake then says, "Excuse me Mama, can you pleeeease stop singing?" I have to say one thing...he is doing well learning his manners:)

I love you Matthew! I thank the Lord for bringing you into my life. You are such a wonderful husband and father to our boys. I appreciate all that you do for our family.

2.) List at least 6 ways you measure success in your life:
1. To walk with the Lord all the days of my life
2. To be the wife that God has called me to be to my husband
3. To be the best mother to my children and raise them to love Jesus
4. To be obedient to whatever the Lord calls me to do in my life
5. To have my life be a witness that it might bring others to know Jesus Christ as their Lord and
Savior
6. To trust the Lord completely

He Has a Perfect Plan

Well, this is the first time I have blogged in 2009. Our new year has been somewhat uneventful, but that has been a very good thing. Matthew and I have been talking about the new year and what the Lord is going to do in our lives this year. Don't you just wish that He would tell us sometimes what exactly is going to happen. Wouldn't that make our lives so much easier?

We just started reading Habakkuk together and in Habakkuk 1:5, God tells Habakkuk,
"Look among the nations and watch-
Be utterly astounded!
For I will work a work in your days
Which you would not believe, though it were told you."

God is telling Habakkuk that He is working a work, but even if He told him what he was doing, Habakkuk would not believe it. That is why God does not tell us everything that is going to happen in our lives...we would not believe it or we would argue about it with Him. It is a great reminder to me that He has a perfect plan for us and that is where I want to be. Though we might think we know better, I am reminded of one of my favorite scriptures...Isaiah 55:8-9

"For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways My ways," says the LORD.
"For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are My ways higher than your ways,
And My thoughts than your thoughts."

These verses make me take a deep breath and rest in His hands knowing that His ways are so much higher than mine. It is definentley something that I need to be reminded of daily.

Well, I hope this might have brought you encouragement this new year as it did me. Though it is kind of late...I hope everyone has a blessed New Year!

"Trust in the LORD, and do good;
Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness." Psalm 37:3
